Cote d’Ivoire Equity Market | 25 Aug 2015: Bear persist on the BRVM bourse, investor marginally lose US$6 million
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 297.01 to 296.73 points, a drop of 0.09 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.05 percent to 294.80 against 294.94 points previously.
The equity market capitalization fell by XOF 4 billion (about US$6 million) to close at XOF 7,274 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,278 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 84,024 traded stocks relative to 311,214 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,072 million (against XOF 2,180 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 240 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 41,381 traded securities (accounted for almost 49 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 930.97 million contributing nearly about 87 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 7.03 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.33.
Out of the 34 traded securities today, 9 stocks experienced price gains,6 witnessed price drops and 16 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO emerged as the top price gainer by surging by 3.75 percent to end at XOF 58. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 2.56 percent at XOF 80,000 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 20.500 after jumping by 2.47 percent. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE price soared by 1.09 percent to close at XOF 27,800 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 106,000 with 0.47 percent gains.
FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 1.64 percent to settle at XOF 30,000 as the biggest loser and SONATEL SENEGAL tumbled by 1.58 percent to close at XOF 25,200. Likewise, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.25 percent to close at XOF 15,800 and BANK OF AFRICA NIGER plummeted 0.49 percent to trade at XOF 79,610. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 27,500 after crashing by 0.36 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index plunged by 0.18 percent at 164.33 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 1.23 percent to close at 800.65 points. The distribution sector index surged by 0.37 percent to end at 543.77 points and financial services sector index added 1.85 percent to end at 108.85 points. The Agriculture sector index fell by 0.63 percent to close at 202.44 points. Transportation sector index remained flat at 926.60 and miscellaneous sector index remained steady at XOF 561.79 points.
